Studio 4: Revitalization of Hudson River State Hospital: Memorial & Adaptive Reuse

This project reimagines the historic Hudson State River Hospital as an artist boutique hotel and residency, where artists and visitors stay, create, and connect in a setting rich with history. Blending hospitality with culture, the site invites both resident artists and travelers to engage with the hospital's preserved past through an on-site art center. Here, artist residents, Poughkeepsie locals, and guests gather to explore historic artifacts, learn about the hospital’s story, and contribute to a growing creative community. The project fosters a unique environment where art and history intersect, inspiring connections and supporting the artistic community in meaningful ways.
