Hudson river state hospital
Studio 4: Revitalization of Hudson River State Hospital: Memorial & Adaptive Reuse
Project Description: This project focuses on the revitalization of the historic Hudson River State Hospital (HRSH) in Poughkeepsie, NY, a Kirkbride Plan hospital designed by Frederick Clarke Withers and landscaped by Calvert Vaux in 1868. Despite being listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the site remains vulnerable to neglect or demolition. This two-part project will engage with the complex history of the site and imagine new possibilities for its future.
